You rent the ORTHOSCOOT® through a medical supply retailer or directly from us for the duration of your non-weight-bearing phase. Once you are allowed to bear weight on your foot again, you can easily and sustainably return the ORTHOSCOOT® to the retailer or via a parcel station.

The ORTHOSCOOT® is a recognized medical device and is listed under medical aid number 22.50.02.0001 in the directory of statutory health insurance funds. The medical aid can be reimbursed by all health insurance providers.

ORTHOSCOOT® can be prescribed using medical aid number 22.50.02.0001.

Intended purpose:
ORTHOSCOOT® enables safe mobility indoors and in the immediate residential area when this is not possible or only severely limited with other aids such as canes or forearm crutches.

Indications – When is ORTHOSCOOT® Suitable?

Contraindications – When Must ORTHOSCOOT® Not Be Used?

Impaired mobility due to chronic or temporary functional limitations of the foot, ankle, and/or distal lower leg with sufficient coordination, such as after or in cases of:

Ankle, tarsal, or metatarsal fractures
Injuries to ankle-spanning tendons
Severe soft tissue injuries of the foot or ankle
Complex ligament injuries
Amputations at the level of the distal lower leg, ankle, midfoot, or toes
Revision surgeries of the lower extremity
Lower limb injury with pre-existing impairment of the upper limb
Osteochondral injuries of the ankle or midfoot
After surgery on the heel bone or other tarsal bones
After major forefoot surgeries
Bone overload reactions (“bone bruise”)
Ankle arthrodesis
Correction of severe foot deformities (clubfoot, flatfoot, cavovarus foot)

Under certain circumstances, the use of an orthopedic knee scooter may not be suitable. This should be clarified in a discussion between the patient and the treating physician.

Balance disorders preventing safe use of a three-wheeled device
Impairment of both lower extremities preventing propulsion
Acute thrombosis of the affected leg
External fixator on the lower leg or ankle
Severe wound infections of the affected leg
Knee joint weight-bearing restrictions (e.g., knee replacement)
Severe polyneuropathy with sensory impairment
Venous stasis ulcers
